Growing notes / STORY 03
Read the seed packet before drawing the plot.
A packet is a small planning document, not just a picture of the harvest.

Start with your conditions
Look at the stated sowing window, spacing, and growing requirements before choosing where a crop will go. Local conditions matter more than the attractive photograph. Keep the information together with the seeds so the instructions remain available when planting time arrives.
Translate the space
Sketch the growing area at a simple scale and include access around the plants. A bed that looks generous while empty can become awkward once everything fills out. Compare the packet’s guidance with the room you can actually maintain and leave margin for ordinary tasks.
Choose a useful first experiment
A small quantity makes it easier to observe emergence and growth. Label the variety and date, and keep any remaining seed according to its storage instructions. The aim is a result you can understand and repeat, rather than using every available packet in the first weekend.
